Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Adesh Gupta on Sunday said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP’s ) claim that Centre is not allowing the launch of the doorstep ration delivery is false.
Citing the National Food Security Act, Gupta said, “The Central Government is already distributing free ration to 80 crore people for May and June also 72 lakh card holders have also benefited.”
“Kejriwal Government is hiding their failures. CM Kejriwal is coming up with such lies while the fact remains under PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojna in May and till June 5, Delhi got more than its fixed quota, that’s it has got 72,782 Mt. Of this, the State Government has so far lifted only 53000 Mt and of this, only 68 per cent has been distributed,” he added.
“While Kejriwal Government gives only Rs 2 subsidy on per kg wheat the Centre gives Rs 23.73 while on rice Kejriwal gives only Rs 3 per kg subsidy while center gives Rs 33.79 He said if Kejriwal wants to distribute ration in addition to this, he can buy it on the notified rate and neither centre nor anyone would object to that. But to describe center policies as his own is low level politics,” he charged.
If he really wants to do something for the poor, he should implement one nation, one card yojna,” he added.
Leader of Opposition, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said the ‘CM Ghar Ghar ration yojna’ that Kejriwal is talking about is actually PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojna under which ration is distributed to state governments. Kejriwal now claims it under his own CM scheme. “It smacks of a conspiracy.
When this ration reaches the poor’s home, it will be sold at a higher price due to packing and delivery charges. He said for 72 lakh card holders, the centre gives a monthly subsidy of Rs 126 crores while the Kejriwal Government is spending 1000 crores rupees yearly on publicity . Can’t it spend Rs 126 crore for Delhiites? He asked adding in past seven years 70 lakh people got registration for ration cards but have not received it till now and the CM is talking of distributing ration to households. It shows Kejriwal’s double speaking, he charged and people are realising it,” he added.
New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi said the Kejriwal Government wants to raise an army of middlemen so that it can get its share.
“Instead of improving the condition of 2000 odd ration shops by linking them with Aadhar and making them modern, the Kejriwal government’s intention seems to be using these middlemen for sending ration to these ration shops.
Whether the ration reaches its destination is secondary as long as he keeps getting his share from these middlemen, she charged, adding that he does not want the ration distribution system to be transparent,” she added.
