AAP refers dissidents' case to its disciplinary committee

The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday referred the case against rebel leaders Yogender Yadav, Prashant Bhushan and two others to its national disciplinary committee for further action. The decision was taken at the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting of AAP chaired by Delhi Chief Minsiter Arvind Kejriwal at his residence at Civil lines here on Wednesday evening.

The two other AAP leaders are Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha, Sanjay Singh said after the PAC meeting. The move came a day after rebel leaders organised a Swaraj Samvad convention at Gurgaon in which they had announced floating of a new group and also lashed out at the party leadership, questioning inner party democracy and transparency.

“We have referred the matter of Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan holding the ‘Swaraj Samwad’ to the national disciplinary committee. It will take suitable action,” Singh said. He, however, refused to comment on when the action would be taken.

Earlier in the day, Yadav and Bhushan hinted at forming a political party. Bhushan said, “At present we are fighting against the fact that the AAP has deviated from its founding principles. But there is a possibility that this movement is transformed into a political party. However, it was possible only if their movement continued to follow the principle of swaraj “one or two years’ down the line”.
