The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) brought up the issues of Kamal Nath’s resignation and the murder of 57-year-old MM Khan, the late legal officer of New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) at a Press conference at their party headquarters on Thursday.
Speaking on Kamal Nath’s resignation, AAP leader Dilip Pandey said the Congress was forced to withdraw him because of continuous pressure, due to his alleged involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Pandey said with Kamal’s resignation, Congress has already been “wiped out” of the polls in Punjab.
Quoting the Nanavati Commission report, the party said Nath was present during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and that the case on him be reopened. Staying on the subject, the party also demanded that Capt. Amarinder Singh quit.
Pandey accused the BJP of having links with the murder of MM Khan, asking why the party’s leaders weren’t quizzed. The party also demanded the arrest of NDMC’s vice-chairman Karan Singh Tanwar. “If Karan Singh Tanwar is not arrested, we will believe that the BJP is guilty of Khan’s murder,” Pandey said.
“A thorough investigation is a must to bring the truth out. To bring the truth out police should arrest Tanwar and Maheish Girri.” He said police should seize their bank accounts and check their past records.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi Police gave clean chit to East Delhi MP Maheish Girri and NDMC Vice Chairman Karan Singh Tanwar in the Khan’s murder case.
The AAP has alleged that both the leaders had links with Ramesh Kakkar, owner of the Connaught Hotel in Connaught Place and the main accused in the case. Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) and spokesperson of Delhi Police Taj Hassan said they have not found anything against Girri and Tanwar in this case.
