Assembly wise analysis of results of seven lok Sabha seats in Delhi indicates that Congress did not get a lead even in a single Assembly segment. It will have to move the mountains to regain the ground that it has ceded to the BJP and to a certain extent to the AAP. If the Delhi Assembly elections were to be held in present scenario, BJP would win 60 seats in 70-member Assembly on the basis of its spectacular performance in the Parliamentary elections.
It would be pertinent to mention here that BJP had won 32 seats in December, 2013 Assembly polls while AAP had stunned the political pundits by winning 28 seats. Congress could get only eight seats as compared to 42 seats in 2008. Voting trends in all the 70 assembly seats spell doom for the 125 year old party. While BJP won in 60 seats, it could not come even closer in any of the constituencies. AAP had also suffered a jolt as it could lead in only 10 Assembly areas despite it having won 28 seats.
AAP got more votes in Okhla, Devli, Ambedkar Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Badli, Kirari, Sultanpur Majra, Seemapuri and Matia Mahal. BJP overwhelmed its challengers in 60 seats and that resulted in all its seven candidates romping home with massive margins. AAP did manage to retain its stronghold in the areas dominated by the people from the lower strata of the society.
