The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday along with a delegation of e-rickshaw drivers will meet Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday on the issue of ban on the battery operated vehicles. Besides, in its bid to rebuild itself and penetrate different strata of society, the party has decided to increase frontal organisations, starting with the national Capital.

The party recently launched its youth wing making one of its MlA Jarnail Singh as its president. It is also in the process of forming a minority front, but the party is working on giving shape to this front. More such fronts are expected to be formed in coming days, party sources said, as the organisations aims to spread its tentacles.

last month, with an aim of expanding its base, the party also formed a women’s wing making Shalimar Bagh MlA Bandana Kumari is head. “The party already had a youth wing named CYSS. It was formed by volunteers with the permission of (party’s national convener) Arvind Kejriwal. But now the party wants to give it a formal

structure and is also taking a lead,” said a party source.

But it is still unclear how the youth wing will function. Whether it will be separate from the student bodies of other parties like ABVP, NSUI or AISA or be clubbed into it one, is yet to be known. “The party is working on it and it will soon formalise its plan,” the source added.

After its severe drubbing in the lok Sabha, the party decided to make some drastic changes and also expand its base in other parts of the country. This included initiatives like Mission Vistaar. It was also observed that to build organisational

capacities, the party needed to cater to different strata and sections of society like the other major parties.

The party made a spectacular debut in December last year winning 28 seats and forming the Government. But Kejriwal quit as the Chief Minister. The party faced severe drubbing in the lok Sabha drawing a blank in the national Capital.

“We got little time to work on our organisational skills. We started as a nascent party, soon assumed power and then resigned. later came the lok Sabha polls and we were all focused on it. Now is the time to build on our

organisational skills,” the source added.
