AAP nets Rs57l in donations on Tuesday alone

Despite serious questions being raised over the funding of the AAP, a whopping amount of nearly Rs57 lakh was received by the party on Tuesday as donation. The data on the party’s website showed that they had received a total of Rs56,49,043 by 1,833 donors on February 3. This time the party had a target of Rs30 crore for the Delhi elections but only managed to collect about Rs14 crore.

This also impacted the party’s campaigning since they had to cut corners at several places. However, with only a couple of days of campaigning to go, AAP has been getting flooded with donations. As per their data, from November 1, 2014 till February 3, 2015, AAP received Rs14,65,91,941 by 39,355 donors, from 68 countries, 38 States/Union Territories.

Before November, in September and October, AAP managed to collect only a few lakh rupees ranging from Rs7 lakh to Rs8 lakh. However, in November, in the first 19 days itself they had collected over Rs37.8 lakh. The party last year had to ask people to stop sending donations because they were pouring in. This year it was anticipated that the response would be lukewarm but with the current rise in donations, the situation seems otherwise.
