AAP names 15 star campaigners for Delhi

Leaving no stone unturned to win all the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday released its list of 15 star campaigners, including party’s bigwig in Delhi. The AAP will also add more names to the list of star campaigners in coming days.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, senior party leaders Satyendra Jain, Sanjay Singh, Gopal Rai, Bhagwant Mann, Sushil Gupta, ND Gupta, Imran Hussain, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Rajendra Pal Gautam, Rakhi Birla, Jarnal Singh and Shahnaz Hindustan are among the leaders who will campaign for the party, said AAP convener Gopal Rai. Rai said these names will be submitted to the Election Commission for approval on Wednesday and they would come up with more names in the coming weeks.

Hitting out at Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit for her statement in which she reportedly said statehood for Delhi will no longer be a part of the party’s manifesto, he said it is clear that the Congress party had lied to the people of the national Capital for decades on this important issue.

Rai asked Dikshit whether the people should believe her recent statement or earlier one (November 21, 2013) in which she had stated that there has been a problem of coordination between different agencies and such problems would have been resolved had Delhi been a full State.

He also demanded  from Dikshit to explain the compulsion of her party in promising people of full statehood for Delhi in party manifesto released on January 30, 2015.

“Dikshit had also raised the issue of multiple agencies which created hurdles in developmental works due to lack of coordination among agencies. It is shocking that somebody who has been a CM of Delhi is today saying that statehood for Delhi cannot be an issue for Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

Referring to the BJP and the Congress, he said the AAP will not allow these parties to get away from the issue of full statehood easily. The Delhi Government cannot open new University or collages. Once it is granted full statehood, the admission problem of 2.5 lakh students who passed out every year will be shorted out with opening of new educational institution.

Election to seven Lok Sabha seats in national Capital will be held on May 12.
