The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday announced the appointment of new leaders of Opposition in the municipal corporations which are ruled by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). The names of new leader of Opposition were finalised by the AAP after the appointment of three Mayors for the three municipal corporations by the ruling BJP.
AAP spokesperson Dilip Pandey said AAP's Anil lakra, who won civic body elections from Mundka ward, Praveen Kumar Rajput from Sitapuri, and Kuldeep Kumar from Kalyanpuri will be the leaders of Opposition of North, South and East municipal corporations respectively.
Padey said after the civic body elections in April last year, AAP councilors were promised that everybody will get a chance to take up this responsibility and enhance their leadership qualities.
"It's not that those holding the positions earlier didn't do a good job. They did an excellent job. Going by our promise to keep rotating, we have taken this decision," he added.
