The AAP Municipal Councillors protested at the Mayor's office on Wednesday in order to bring to her notice the nexus between the building mafia and MCD employees within the Karol Bagh zone of the MCD. The Councillors demanded that the MCD employees involved should be suspended.
AAP Councillors participating in the protest alleged that from every building across Karol Bagh, there are complaints of extortion, which has been going on in connivance with the building mafia and MCD employees. As per a statement by the AAP, the building mafia harasses the people of the area by giving notices every day. “This whole matter started five months ago, since the AAP came to power in the MCD. Before that, the BJP was in power in the MCD, so there was no supervision. The Councillors alleged that BJP corporators used to send money to MCD officials from time to time, due to which the latter did not take action against this issue,” the statement read.
Now that the AAP Government has come to power in the MCD, in a bid to curb all corruption, the AAP Councillors took up this issue with the DC in every meeting. “We asked them to take strict action against this extortion but no action has been taken till date. The public is worried. In order to free the public from corruption, we as Councillors have been protesting at the Mayor's office. We demand action should be taken against all the MCD employees involved in this matter and they should be suspended at the earliest,” the Press note said.
