The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may get a censure from the Electoral Office of Delhi for the protest which turned violent outside the BJP headquarters last month. Following the direction of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the electoral office is all set to censuring the AAP.

The ECI has thrown the ball back to Delhi Electoral Office and District Electoral Office to take appropriate action against AAP’s violent protest outside the BJP headquarters’ at Ashoka Road. Earlier, Electoral Office of Delhi has sent a detailed report on AAP’s violent protest at BJP headquarters at Ashoka Road and held it responsible for violence and violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

According to chief nodal officer Ankur Garg, the final action against AAP will be decided by Thursday after consulting with chief electoral officer Vijay Dev. Sources said AAP may get away with censure to ensure such incident should not be occurred when the MCC is in force in future.

The party was asked to reply within 24 hours as to why action should not be initiated against it for holding the protest without permission from poll officials and violating the MCC. The DEO in his report has prime facie found the AAP guilty of violating various sections of the MCC for the unlawful protest at the BJP headquarters.
