AAP making false allegation on Rs 2,457 cr waiver to divert people’s attention, says MCD

Responding to the claim made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday regarding waiving off a huge amount due on South Corporation, the North corporation has clarified that the decision to waive off the Rs 2457 Crore was taken because both the corporations have the same Commissioner, senior AAP leader Durgesh Pathak, who is in-charge of municipal Corporation said on Thursday.

However, North Mayor Jai Prakash refuted the statement saying that no such decision was taken to waive off any amount. “The AAP is making false allegations to divert people’s attention. We have been protesting against the Delhi Government demanding due of Rs 13000 Cr towards the corporations but the AAP in order to avoid the issue is making allegation after allegation to confuse people,” he said.

AAP senior leader Durgesh Pathak further said “We received a letter from the North MCD as a clarification. In this clarification later the civic body has noted that the Commissioner of both the North MCD and the South MCD are same that is Gyanesh Bharti and the decision to waive of Rs 2457 crores was taken because both the MCDs have the same commissioner."

Mayors of all three Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs) and BJP councillors continued their protest on the fourth consecutive day demanding immediate release of Corporation’s dues of Rs 13,000 Crore from the Delhi Government.

South Corporation Mayor Anamika said that the entire functionary of Delhi Government deliberately not released outstanding amounts due towards the corporation.
