The Aam Aadmi Party has given a more personal touch to their donation collection campaign and is now sending out senior leaders to meet their donators.

On Wednesday, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia sent out text messages, asking them to text their name and address to the specified number and he would personally come to collect the donations. “We want to engage with the public and make them feel that we care for them. If senior leaders go and meet people and speak to them about the party’s objectives and their vision for Delhi, they will definitely trust us more. The money is important for fighting elections, but not more than the trust of the voters,” party sources informed.

The message circulated by Sisodia asked people to donate to the party in order to support clean politics. “I need donations to contest Delhi election. Please support clean politics. To contribute, please send your name and address through an SMS. I’ll come and meet you,” read the text message undersigned by Sisodia.

Earlier, the party has conducted several other campaigns to collect donations. They have conducted fundraisers and initiated mobile apps for the same. lately, in an attempt to collect donations easier and more transparent, AAP had also earlier launched a mobile application called AAP Ka Dhan which only their “authorised” volunteers who are allowed to collect donations can use.

Additionally, the party also came up with new ways to get enough funds in the party by creating a new concept of ‘shagun’ where through a mobile application they accept money from people who wish to give “blessings” to the party. The AAP Trade Wing members launched this programme and said that through an application called ‘Aap Ka Daan’, people can donate money in the form of shagun for example Rs1,100, Rs2,100, etcetera.
