The report by the Central district police on the alleged clash between the Delhi Police and AAP leaders over a 19-year-old girl’s murder in Anand Parbat has termed the protest by the party at local police station as a “gherao with no agenda”. The clash had left 12 people, including six policemen, injured. The Delhi Police, in the report submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), stated that it was necessary to diffuse the mob otherwise it could have led to further law and order situation in the area.
The report, a copy of which is with The Pioneer, said: “The demonstrators, who were holding placards, were in an agitated mood and started shouting slogans like Modi Police hai hai, Delhi Police sharam karo, ACP Patel Nagar aur SHO Anand Parbat istifa do, etc. and wanted the house of the accused in Meenakshi murder case to be sealed. They also blocked the traffic whereby the buses, school buses, ambulances and other vehicles got blocked resulting in a huge traffic jam.”
“The agitators were requested to demonstrate in a peaceful manner and give way for the stranded vehicles of essential services, but they pay no heed. Utmost efforts were made by local police to convince them and give the passage for the stranded vehicles. They started throwing pamphlets, water bottles, stones and sticks on the police personnel on duty. They continuously abused the Government officials on duty and violently pushed the barricades, damaging four iron barricades. Surprisingly, they, under the leadership of Ankush Narang had no agenda but intended to ‘gherao’ the police station and disrupt the normal functioning of the police station,” it said.
