Delhi Government does not agree with the decision of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), which will result in a hike of 4 per cent-6 per cent in electricity tariff. The Government will seek a review of the DERC order and will convey its disagreement to the commission in writing. Expressing disagreement with the tariff hike, Delhi Power Minister Satyendra Jain tweeted that Delhi Government will ask DERC to review its order of power tariff hike between 4 per cent and 6 per cent. In a Press statement, AAP Government said that the Government has also decided to seek opinion for taking legal recourse against this decision, which in its view is uncalled for, since no financial burden should be passed on to consumers till all issues arising out of the functioning of power distribution companies are sorted out. “There are a lot of questions about the functioning of these private power distribution companies in Delhi, and the Government is committed to get to the root of this problem. The Government is of the view that the DERC should wait for the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) before taking any decision on the electricity tariff in Delhi,” the Press note said.
