The Delhi Government is likely to seek funds for running their several schemes through a vote-on-account in the third week of March for an interim period. Sources also said that an Assembly session will be called for the vote-on-account.
The Government has, reportedly, decided to table the Budget in the Assembly in May, giving some time to people of the city to send their suggestions. The financial year will come to an end this month and thereafter, the Government would require funds to run its several public welfare schemes.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had recently announced that the people of Delhi would be making the Budget this time and the experiment would be carried out in five to ten constituencies. The same method would be extended to other constituencies in the future as well.
“The Government also wants to give some time to people to send their suggestions due to which it is considering to table the Budget in May. This would also be the first occasion when the budget would be tabled in May,” sources said.
Meanwhile, the Government is also planning to bring in a new VAT policy in the city. “Our job is to ensure that the city has the lowest VAT in the country. This was also discussed at a high-level meeting on Wednesday,” sources said.
The AAP Government has also not conducted any raids on traders since it came to power following its “zero-raid policy”, they added.
