As the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to take up the reins of Government in Delhi, the party 28 MlAs and others who had contested Assembly election are being imparted training to understand the functioning of the bureaucracy and the administration. The two-day training session started on Monday at 10 in the morning at the Constitution Club. Besides the rigorous exercise, these newly elected members also asked to achieve Swaraj.

With a group of party workers stood inside and outside the club while the 28 elected MlAs remained locked away for the training session which was conducted by AAP senior leader Gopal Rai, a party worker and candidate who lost from the Babarpur Assembly constituency. However, Arvind Kejriwal, who will soon be swearing in as the Chief Minister of the capital, made an entry into the meeting at 2 pm after meeting the lieutenant Governor and an early exit at around 4.30 pm.

“The training aimed at making us understand about Swaraj and educating all MlAs about their duties and responsibilities. We discussed about how each of the 70 candidates will work for their respective constituencies and achieve the goals,” said Somnath Bharti, first-time MlA from Malviya Nagar adding that it was also a great opportunity to meet and know all other candidates of the party.

The training was not just for the elected 28 MlAs but for all the 70 candidates who contested the polls on December 4. “We all spoke in length and introduced ourselves to each other as a part of the first session in the morning. We discussed the points from the manifesto and the way forward,” said Vijender Garg, who was the party’s candidate who beat the sitting MlA from Congress Ramakant Goswami, but lost out to BJP’s RP Singh. “The training was conducted to help the MlAs and other candidates understand the functioning of departments and how the work has to be done. We also affirmed on our approach to resolve problems in every area which is not to follow VIP culture but work like common man,” he added.

While the MlAs and candidates remained in an enclosed hall in the club, there were endless speculations doing the rounds. It was not just Swaraj that remained the topic of discussion among the party workers who waited patiently outside but there was also the talk of who would be included in cabinet of the Delhi Government.
