AAP fulfilled poll promises: Atishi

With  Arvind Kejriwal Government according its approval to a proposal to provide free high speed internet wireless network (Wi-Fi) facility to the citizens of national Capital, the Delhi Government has fulfilled every single promise made to the people of  Delhi in the run up to the 2015 election, said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and national spokesperson Atishi.

Addressing media persons, Atishi said, “The party had released a 70-point action plan before the election, which had also promised to provide free Wi-Fi as it is one of the rights of the people. It is a basic amenity in any modern city and the step will also lead to empowerment of the youth in the city.”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced the Delhi Cabinet’s decision to set up 11,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots across the city over the next 3 to 4 months. Free Wi-Fi for all was a key campaign promise of the AAP in the run up to the 2015 Delhi Assembly election.

Referring to the promises made by the party before the election, Atishi listed the key campaign promises already fulfilled by the party.

“From the 70-point action plan, Arvind Kejriwal has delivered electricity at half prices, free lifeline water, augmenting water resources through rain water harvesting, provision of high quality education, expansion of the healthcare infrastructure, installation of CCTVs in public spaces, reduction of  VAT rates and ending inspector raj, opening of incubation centres in Delhi educational institutions. Now we have fulfilled the 70th point that is free WiFi for all,” said Atishi.

Stressing upon the importance of this moment in Indian politics, Atishi said, “Why do people not trust politicians? Because parties come and go, manifestos come and go, governments come and go, but the promises made by politicians always remain unfulfilled. When Arvind Kejriwal had made promises on electricity, water, schools, and hospitals in 2015, he was mocked by some. Today, before the five year term has even ended, all our promises are being fulfilled.”
