AAP didn’t fulfil 96% of its promises, accuses BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe on Tuesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of betraying on 96 per cent of its promises made to the people of Delhi and saying even the issue of Jan Lokpal which he raised remains unfulfilled after four and half years of his rule in the national Capital.

Releasing the report prepared by the Public Policy Research Centre titled ‘A tale of betrayal’, Sahasrabuddhe said, “The key promise of the AAP Government, Jan Lokpal Bill till today remains in doldrums and it has not been fulfilled.”

BJP leader also alleged that the AAP came into existence by challenging the stance of the established national parties and its leaders.

“Ahead of the 2015 Assembly Elections in Delhi they released a 70 point action plan. The analysis reveals that 67 out of 70 promises remains unfilled,” Sahasrabuddhe said.

He said that the main reason behind the non delivery of the promises are due to the politics of obstruction adopted by AAP.

The politics of obstruction not only created an atmosphere of pessimism for the people but has also stalled implementation of important welfare schemes like Ayushman Bharat.

He said AAP has failed to deliver on its promise of making its own Jan Lokpal. “Ironically, Kejriwal has removed the internal Lokpal of the party Admiral L Ramdas,” he alleged.

Attacking the AAP Government in the national Capital over  the issue of full statehood, the BJP leader said, “In the last four and half years the AAP and the city Government have never tried to work amicably to discuss the issue of full statehood to Delhi despite knowing the fact that the status of full statehood can only be granted to Delhi after an Act is passed in Parliament.”

“And instead of working with the central government, they have indulged in the politics of confrontation with the constitutional representative,” he said.

The BJP leader, who is also the Director of the PPRA, which was founded in 2011, said that the another important issue of Swaraj Act to devolve directly to the people has not been fulfilled and the Kejriwal Government in last four and half years no mohalla sabhas have been created.

“While on the other hand the centralisation of power has happened in the AAP,” he said. The BJP leader then targeted the AAP leader over promise of reducing the electricity bills and said saying it is a farce.

“The minimum bill and the fixed charges have increased in last four years of the AAP government and the residents of the Delhi have to pay more for the same consumption of electricity now,” he said.

Slamming the AAP Government, he said that they also did not fulfill the promise of getting the CAG audit of the power discoms. “There has not been any audit of the power discoms by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) already conducts audits of the discoms on a regular basis  but even those reports have not been made available in the public domain,” he said.

Slamming the AAP over its promise of increasing over 30,000 beds in the Delhi Government hospitals and creating 900 new Primary Health Centres, he said, “Not even one third of the PHC’s have been created under the scheme of Mohalla Clinics.”

He said, “According to Economic Survey of Delhi, only 9,098 beds have been added in the government hospitals under AAP’s tenure of last four and half years.”

“The Delhi Government has also not joined the Central Government’s Ayushman Bharat scheme till date because of political issues,” he said.

The BJP leader then also pointed the promises of providing wi-fi, CCTVs in the buses, Mahila Suraksha Dal has not been formed, and no substantial progress made to provide marshals in the public transport.
