AAP deviating from promises, alleges Binny

AAP MlA from laxmi Nagar Vinod Kumar Binny, who had publicly displayed his unhappiness over his exclusion from the Cabinet in December, on Wednesday said he would expose the party at a Press conference on Thursday while slamming it for “failing” to fulfil the promises made to people of Delhi.

“The Government is not fulfilling the promises we made to the people. There has been lot of difference between what the party promised and how the Government is working and what is being done. I will divulge all these things in a Press conference on Thursday to ensure accountability and transparency in the party. These things shouldn’t stay behind closed doors,” Binny said.

Binny is a former Congressman. He was elected as councillor twice as an Independent candidate. This year, he was one of AAP’s giant-slayers, defeating former Delhi Health Minister AK Walia by about 8,000 votes.

The MlA said he was not upset over not becoming a Minister and wants to raise the issues in public interest. “I am not upset over anything. The party is drifting from the main issues. Hence, it is important for us to make them realise that we are in the party for its cause,” the MlA said.

Binny had quit the Congress in 2011, to join the anti-graft movement led by Anna Hazare. Binny is seen as close to top AAP leader Manish Sisodia and was widely expected to be made a Cabinet Minister after a big win in laxmi Nagar. It is noted that the AAP has adopted mohalla sabha concept from the working style of Binny who has been adopting this tactic to use his councillor fund for area development.

After Binny, another AAP member Tina Sharma attacked the party leadership over alleged non-fulfilment of the promises made in its 2013 manifesto and ignoring the issue of women’s security.

“We have not catered to the manifesto of 2013 (Assembly elections) and we have started the work on 2014 (lok Sabha polls) manifesto,” said Shama.
