Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea of “ambassadors for clean India”, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay now plans to invite nine people in Delhi for participating in the campaign on Thursday.
In a meeting of office bearers and leaders held on Tuesday at the party office, discussions were held to expedite the Prime Minister’s Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan. State unit president Satish Upadhyay said that all the office bearers of the party and MPs should send the names of nine people they have invited on social media to take the Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan forward.
Upadhyay said he would nominate nine prominent names on October 9 for participation, which will include social activists, intellectuals, sportspersons, doctors and artists, among others. Reviewing the campaign, Upadhyay apprised the office bearers and leaders about the decision on participation of Mandal Presidents, MPs, MlAs and councillors of the party.
Expressing his reaction to the pictures of filth sent by AAP to mayors of corporations, Upadhyay said that the AAP has again given proof of its desperation. He said this campaign has just taken off and much needs to be done. Showing photos of filth is infantile behavior, he said. “Maybe AAP could get its hands dirty and not play dirty,” Upadhyay added.
The chief also made a surprise inspection of Jiya Sarai in Malviya Nagar AC and warned the sanitary supervisor to ensure sanitation in the area. BJP-led Municipal Corporations informed that the North Corporation has gone up to 3,500 MT from 2,800 MT, while the same has increased from 2,000 MT to 2,700 MT in East Delhi. The garbage collection of South Corporation has increased from 2,700 MT to 3,500 MT.
