AAP connecting the dots to win Assembly bypoll

As an Assembly election in the national Capital seems inevitable, the Aam Aadmi Party has got busy joining the dots. The rookie party which failed to win a single seat from the city in the lok Sabha polls is vying for fresh strategies to make a rebound in the coming months. According to party members, one of its primary agendas would be to restructure the party into a more formal organisation.

Analysing its current appeal in the city, the cash-strapped party on Monday braced itself for another set of elections. For this, the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) of the party convened a meeting to discuss the viable options. “In the meeting it was seen that an overhaul in the party is required. Many of our internal structures are haphazard. Every department of the party will be streamlined,” said a PAC member.

Despite all the ups and downs, the party has held on to keeping its convener Arvind Kejriwal as its face. “One thing that was decided unanimously in the meeting was that Arvind Kejriwal, would fight for the Chief Ministerial post if an elections occur in Delhi,” he added.

A big ordeal in front of the party is to revive its coffers as the inflow of funds has almost vanished. “We have no funds to advertise and promote. Various teams of the party shall focus on social media. With the two elections, people across the country know us. So we need to continue with our campaigns to mark our presence. Besides, corruption is one thing we will continue to fight. Rather than focusing on big companies, I and other MlAs will try to expose corruption at the local level,” said Rajesh Garg, MlA from Rohini.

Meanwhile, in a video message posted on his Facebook wall, Kejriwal applauded the efforts taken by volunteers and also spoke about the need to build the organisation across the country. “Our organisation is just a year and a half old and we need to work on internal structures of the party for which we all need to work together to build up this organisation. I am sure we can together achieve the dream of Swaraj in our country,” he said in the video.
