Delhi Police has submitted its report to the Delhi Government in the alleged suicide of AAP worker Gajendra Singh at a rally at Jantar Mantar. The report was submitted to New Delhi District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar on Monday. However, the District Magistrate was not satisfied with the report. Delhi Police has accused AAP leaders and volunteers, who were present at the AAP’s Jantar Mantar rally, of abetting Gajendra Singh’s suicide.

Delhi Police has mentioned in the FIR that when police sought to help the man who had climbed a tree, AAP volunteers stopped them, saying the man was an AAP volunteer. Delhi Police has registered an FIR against unknown persons in connection with the alleged suicide of a Rajasthan-based farmer during a rally of Aam Aadmi Party and probe has been handed over to the Crime Branch.

A senior Delhi Police officer told The Pioneer on the condition of anonymity that they have sent a factual report of the incident to the Delhi Government. “The death of Gajendra Singh was an accident. Forensic experts opined that he died due to asphyxia.

Investigations based on the circumstances and the analysis of the video grabs suggest in this direction as he lost balance and tripped. Since he was perched on the branch of a tree, he could not react on time and the cloth that he had put around his neck became a noose and took his life,” the official added.

Sources said that District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar was not satisfied with the report. The report was submitted by Delhi Police on Monday. Delhi Police in its report stated that to bring the person who had climbed the tree to safety, the police had asked for the assistance of trained staff along with a ladder from fire department.

“However, the members of the rally provoked and incited the person leading to his extreme step. Further, the volunteers despite not being trained in such rescue operation, climbed the tree thereby leading to loss of balance and falling of the deceased on the ground,” the report said.

Delhi Police also mention that SDM Chanakyapuri also visited the hospital and the mortuary and stated that he has been authorised by the Delhi Government to conduct a magisterial enquiry and stated that post-mortem be conducted immediately and the dead body be kept in mortuary.

“Upon being asked by local police to produce some official order in this regard, he could produce none,” the report said.
