Former Union Minister Ajay Maken on Wednesday filed his nomination papers on the last day from Sadar Bazar Assembly seat. Maken, the face of Congress campaign in the Assembly polls, began his roadshow from Shastri Nagar and reached the returning officers’ office at ITO around 2 pm to file his nomination papers.
“Both Arvind Kejriwal and Dr Kiran Bedi waved their flags standing beside Anna Hazare, they got into politics by climbing on his shoulder. The six Ps and seven Ss, which Bedi has been discussing these days, do not include corruption. Has corruption become a non-issue as soon as she got into the BJPIJ” he said. He also said that the AAP and the BJP are two sides of the same coin as anti-Congressism “is their thought”. The Congress leader also challenged Kejriwal and Bedi for a debate on every issue pertaining to Delhi, including electricity, water and corruption. He said if Bedi refuses to join it, he and the AAP chief can go ahead with it keeping her seat vacant.
“On Wednesday, Kejriwal had tweeted challenging me and Kiran Bedi to debate. I accepted the challenge but Kiran Bedi turned it down. Kiran Bedi does not want to answer; she only wants to say what she has to say. She can’t run Delhi if she can’t debate. Even if Kiran Bedi doesn’t want to debate, I challenge Kejriwal to a debate at any place and at any channel. If Kiran Bedi does not come then we will leave her chair vacant,” he said. All Congress leaders, NSUI and several councillors, along with Maken’s wife Radhika and daughter Arushi, were also present during the filing of his nomination papers.
