Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled South Corporation of pension scam, saying that more than half beneficiaries in the list of destitute pensions prepared by the Mayor and councilors are bogus.
AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the BJP councillors have generated fake pensions for their own people. “MCD has been running pension schemes for widows, the disabled, and the destitute for 2017. In these schemes, every councilor was told to generate 400 pensions for the categories. The Mayor was given a quota of 750 pensions and other members of the standing committee were given the work of providing 500 pensions,” he said.
Bhardwaj informed that a large-scale scam in the destitute pension in South MCD has been disclosed by a high ranking officer of the corporation in the Standing Committee meeting. The AAP leader said that in a meeting of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s standing committee held on 28th September 2021, it was revealed that the pensions set aside for the destitute, have been illicitly distributed to the people under fake pension documents. “The pensions were given to the people who are closely related to the officials who were given the responsibility to provide pensions to the needy. These people even have their own homes and are fit to survive on their own,” he said.
