Delivering its promise to provide permanent employment to people, the newly elected Government led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to absorb 179 employees who have been working for the Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC). Sources said that the lieutenant Governor (l-G) has approved the Government’s decision and an official notification will be issued shortly.
The decision was taken in the last Delhi Government Cabinet but is being executed now. “All these employees will now be absorbed in the Government and will be treated as Delhi Government employees. This has been the oldest lot working for the interstate bus terminal Kashmere Gate. Once they are absorbed with the Government they will be given options to either work for the government or for DTIDC, which operates and maintains the ISBT Kashmere Gate. The Corporation will then go for fresh recruitment or get more employees on deputation basis,” said a senior Delhi Government official.
The Kashmere Gate ISBT was constructed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), which is an autonomous body just like DTIDC. “In the year 1993 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between DDA and the State Government and the staff and assets were transferred to DTIDC. For the procedure, Delhi Government gave Rs 20 crore to DDA. The ISBT since then has been operated by DTIDC and even the refurbishment process was carried out by this Corporation,” he added.
