Amid uncertainty over seat sharing formula with Congress for the seven Lok Sabha seats in national Capital, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to release its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on April 25. AAP is contesting Lok Sabha election with ‘full Statehood to Delhi’, as its main plank.
AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi AAP convenor Gopal Rai and all other leaders have launched the full throttle campaign for the full Statehood to Delhi. AAP is leaving no stone unturned in reaching out to the voters and its volunteers are busy explaining the benefits of full statehood to them.
Polling for the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will be held in the sixth phase on May 12. The manifesto, which will list out its agenda for the general elections, will focus on its endeavour to get full Statehood for Delhi, a party insider said.
The document has been prepared by a seven-member team headed by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. With talks for alliance is still on between both the parties, the AAP has started full-fledged campaign in all the seven Lok Sabha seats.
The ruling AAP in the city is fighting Lok Sabha election on the agenda of granting full Statehood to Delhi. Raising the slogan of ‘Poorna Rajya Banao Jhadu ka Button Dabao’, the party has started its campaign convincing people to support the party to get full statehood for Delhi.
The party has designed a three-tier campaign in the first phase of which 1,000 teams will go door to door, covering seven Lok Sabha constituencies divided into 560 zones, and distribute the Delhi chief minister’s letter to people on full statehood.
The Congress, with who the AAP is yet to forge an alliance in the national Capital, has already released its manifesto which promises full Statehood to Puducherry but has no mention of Delhi on the issue. The BJP is likely to release its manifesto on April 8.
The AAP had already announced its candidates for all the seven seats in Delhi. It includes Atishi from East Delhi, Guggan Singh from North-West Delhi, Raghav Chadha from South, Dilip Pandey from North-East, Pankaj Gupta from Chandni Chowk, Balbir Singh Jhakhar from West Delhi and Brijesh Goyal will contest from New Delhi seats. The BJP and Congress have not yet declared their candidates for elections in Delhi.
