He said summer is incomplete without mangoes and Delhi's summer is equally incomplete without the Mango Festival. “Mango has been an inseparable part of Indian culture since ancient times. From cuisine to ceremonies, mango plays an important role and thus it deserves a celebration,” he said.
The official also said mango growers across the country including Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Uttar Pradesh have arrived to display the traditional and hybrid varieties of mangoes.
The various types of mangoes on display will include langra, Chausa, Rataul, Hussainara, Ramkela, Kesar, Fazri, Mallika, and Amrapali and other assorted varieties, he said.
The festival is being organiaed by Delhi Tourism since 1987 to celebrate the magnificent variety of flavours offered by the king of fruits. Delhi Tourism organises the festival every year with an aim to provide exposure to the domestic mango Industry. The Festival also provides agro industries and food processing industries the opportunity to display their products.
