The Capital continued to experience chilly weather with the minimum temperature settling at 6.1°C on Tuesday, a notch below normal. Although fog conditions improved compared to the previous days, the weather department has predicted fog to clear further by Wednesday. Moreover, perturbed over cancellation of a large number of flights in north India and resultant problems faced by passengers, aviation regulator DGCA has decided to set up a cell comprising its own officials and those of all Indian carriers.
“It was a foggy morning as usual which gave way to sunshine as the day progressed. The maximum temperature was recorded at 19.7°C which too was a degree below normal,” said a Met official. The humidity levels oscillated between 100 per cent and 50 per cent.
The visibility remained between 350 to 800 metres with no major flight disruptions. “The minimum visibility went to 350 metres around 8.30 in the morning. Flight operations were not affected,” he added. On Monday, the minimum temperature was registered at 6.4°C while the maximum remained at 17.6°C.
The MeT department has predicted moderate or dense fog on Wednesday morning. It will be a mainly clear sky which is expected to become partly cloudy later. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle down at 19°C and 6°C respectively.
