8th cut-off list for reserved seat released

The initial high cut-offs set by the colleges of Delhi University have left seats still vacant for the reserved categories, owing to which the eighth cut-off list was released on Monday.

Officials of the university have said that another list would also be coming in most likelihood. "There has not been a uniform drop in the cut-offs; while few off-campus colleges reduced the cut off quite low for the reserved categories, some others have managed a higher percentage. Possibly, this is a reason for several seats to remain vacant. It will be followed with a ninth cut-off list and untill all the seats have been occupied colleges will be asked to release more lists," said Gulshan Sahwney, Deputy Dean, Students' Welfare.

At the Hansraj College, cut-off for ST category in Sanskrit Honours is set at 40 per cent and for OBC the cut-off for History is 83.5 per cent. For Economics it is 91.25 per cent for OBC, 66 per cent for ST and 75 per cent for the PWD candidates. In most of the colleges, the admissions for general category have been closed. At Ramjas, while the cut-off for SC category is 45 per cent, the cut-off in other courses for the reserved category escalates 60 per cent to 90 per cent.

In Swami Shradhanand College, the seats for BCom honours still remain open for general category and for other courses the vacancies are for reserved category. The college is likely to close the admission in this list. However, Principal of College of Vocational Studies, Inderjeet said that there is no certainty on not issuing another list; it can go on.
