An eight-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her landlord’s son in Ghaziabad. The incident came to light on Friday when a Delhi-based hospital told the parents about the injury marks on her private parts, police said.
According to police, the victim was residing with her parents in a rented accommodation in Maharajpur locality in Ghaziabad.
On September 9, when the girl’s parents were away at their respective jobs, their landlord’s son Basant barged into the rented portion of the house. He dragged the girl inside the room and raped her. Facing resistance, the accused burnt her private parts with a lit cigarette, police said.
On the girl’s complaint, the parents took the child to Hegdewar Hospital in Karkardooma on Thursday where doctors detected injury marks on and around her private parts. The parents lodged a complaint. No arrest was made till Friday evening.
“We have registered a criminal case against the accused under section 376 and Protection of Child from Sexual Offense Act. Attempts are being made to arrest the culprit,” said SP City Ajay Pal Sharma.
