A 10-year-old minor boy was sexually assaulted by eight men in East Delhi’s Geeta Colony area. The accused videographed the incident and threatened the boy with dire consequences. When the victim’s family was headed to a police station to file a case, the families of the accused men thrashed them. East district police has registered two cases — one under Section 377 and the other for voluntarily causing hurt. One of the accused, identified as Vikram, has been arrested.
According to police, the incident took place on May 27 when the boy had gone to buy candies. The accused men lured him on the pretext of showing him a pigeon and took him to a secluded place where eight of them sodomised him and videographed the incident. They threatened to kill his parents if he ratted them out.
“The accused men, namely Jeevan, Dilip, Manish, Khemu, Monu, Devi, Panchi and Vikram, reside in the neighbourhood and have in the past sexually assaulted my son. He was scared and couldn’t open up. It was only when my elder son heard the accused men sneering at him near a shop that he felt something was amiss,” said the victim’s father. A medical examination of the boy confirmed the assault; he was later counselled by an NGO as well.
“We confronted the accused and in a fit of rage, they pummeled us. The families joined in and flogged us,” said the victim’s grandfather on whose complaint the second FIR was registered. The injured were rushed to Swami Dayanand Hospital where they were discharged after first-aid.
