751 challans issued on 2nd day of odd-even

Published on:

On second day of ‘odd-even scheme’, the Delhi Traffic Police and Transport department issued 751 challans on Tuesday. Further, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also claimed that the PM 2.5 and PM 10 level has also dipped to 53 and 126 at 3.00 pm.

Speaking about the Air Quality Index (AQI) on the second day,  Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia slammed the Opposition for their remarks on AAP MLAs and for politicising the issue of stubble burning.

“The second day of the Odd-Even scheme has been a successful one. The AQI has also improved significantly since. Today’s 3 PM data tells that PM 2.5 AQI was 58, the PM 10 AQI has been recorded at 139. The quality of air has improved drastically. The smoke over the capital has also been reducing day by day,” said Sisodia.

According to the official data, a total number of 384 challans were issued, out if which, 189 were issued by Delhi Traffic Police, 93 by transport department and 102 challans by revenue department officials.

Sisodia also said that the environment experts of the Delhi Government are also in constant contact with the (Metrological Department) MET officials to have consistent information about weather conditions of the capital.

“I believe that the states of  Haryana and Punjab have also reduced stubble burning after the Supreme Court verdict yesterday. The people of Delhi are following the Odd-Even scheme in a restricted manner. The number of challans issued today have increased. People were laid off with a warning since it was the first day of the Odd-Even implementation,” he added.

The deputy CM further said that the traffic movement is also smooth on the roads of national Capital.

On the issue of complaints obtained from various locations regarding private buses plying on the roads, Sisodia said, “If any specific complaints are received by the departments, stringent actions will be taken against those found guilty.”

Slamming the remarks made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Goel on AAP Punjab MLAs, he said that the BJP should know the real cause and then claim anything to the media.

“SAFAR itself has said that the pollution in Delhi comprises of 46% smoke from stubble burning in the neighbouring states. What is the basis of their claim?” said he added.

The road rationing odd even scheme which was implemented on November 4th will continue till 15th November. It was first implemented in 2016 twice to curb the vehicular emissions to control the increasing level of air pollution in the national Capital.
