An elderly woman was charred to death in East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar area after a fire broke out in the three-storey building.
Police said that the victim, 70-year-old Urvashi Mahajan, was on the ground floor of the house when the fire broke out. The other members of the family were evacuated from the structure, but Urvashi could not flee in time.
“Several attempts were made by her family members to save he, but in vain,” said a senior police officer. According to Fire Officials, they received a call about the fire at about 4 pm after which four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. By the time the time fire was doused, Mahajan was dead.
