In order to boost the health care service, the State Health Department is planning to launch 70 dedicated physiotherapy clinics and meditation centres across the national Capital by next year. At present, there are no such dedicated clinics for physiotherapy and meditation in the city.
A senior Health Department official told The Pioneer that these clinics and centres will be well equipped with advanced medical facilities. “Medical experts in physiotherapy and meditation will be hired to provide treatment to the patients,” added the official.
Moreover, this will reduce the burden on the existing Government hospitals, where a never ending queue is always seen, said the official adding, that the Government is keen to hire the doctors and paramedical staff for which efforts have been scaled up.
Besides this, Health Department is also planning to rejuvenate existing primary health care centres into polyclinics providing them with strengthened infrastructure. These polyclinics will offer four basic types of OPDs: surgery, gynaecology, paediatrics and orthopaedics. The project of polyclinics is likely to be completed by the end of the next year.
Recently, the AAP Government has started the first low cost mohalla clinic in Peeraghari area. Well equipped with all necessary health care equipment, the two-room centralised air conditioned mohalla clinic runs from 8 am to 2 pm every day. It is well-equipped to carry out the diagnostic services and at least 50 blood tests.
