A seven-year-old girl in school uniform was found lying in a pool of blood in Okhla Industrial Area on Monday evening, said police on Tuesday. The incident came to the fore when the girl was spotted by a passerby near Sanjay Colony at Okhla Jungle. Police was informed and the girl was immediately rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where she is undergoing treatment.
Police said the girl was lying behind the bushes and several injury marks on her face and other body parts were found. “It seems somebody sexually assaulted her and tried to kill her with stones,” said a police officer. A case under relevant sections was registered at Okhla Industrial Area Police station. Girl’s parents who live in Harkesh Colony told police that their daughter had gone to the school on Monday but did not return home.
“We were searching for her when were informed about the incident,” they told police. Several people have been questioned by police in connection with the case. Further investigations are on to hunt the culprits.
