A 13-year-old girl kept hostage was gang-raped by seven men over five days in Noida’s Salarpur village. The rape survivor was in the village to attend a marriage with her family. She was abducted by two men and gang-raped by their cronies before dumping her not far from the village. Police have registered a case after court’s order and initiated investigation. Police have so far arrested only one accused, identified as Sameer.
The brutality took place on April 17 when the girl, a resident of Bulandshahr district, was in Salarpur village to attend a betrothal. Two men, who were reportedly eyeing her, whisked her away her at gunpoint. Along with five others, the bestial men outraged the modesty of the minor girl in an unoccupied house in the village. When the family of the girl found their daughter amiss, they approached police but were scoffed at saying she might have cut loose.
On April 22, the girl was found in a dishevelled state. Police stoutly refused to register an FIR under appropriate Sections. It took the intervention of the concerned court to file a case under Section 376 (2) (G) of IPC and Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. “We have registered a case at Sector 49 police station and have arrested Sameer, a resident of Bulandshahr district. We have formed police teams and raids are being conducted to nab the absconded accused. We have also sent the girl for a medical exam,” said s senior police official.
