The national Capital on Monday reported fresh coronavirus cases, while the positivity rate stood at nearly 15 per cent, according to the city health department.
However, a survey conducted by LocalCircles, found that 63 per cent of people in Delhi-NCR did not undergo any test despite having Covid-like symptoms in the last 30 days. The survey at least 25 per cent of the respondents said they opted for Rapid Antigen Test, response of 12 per cent was 'both RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test'.
A questionnaire was given to people as part of the survey which received 10,821 responses. While 67 per cent respondents were men, 33 per cent were women, the LocalCircles said in a statement. Some of the questions in the survey included — 'In the last one month when you or family members in Delhi-NCR had some symptoms and needed a Covid test (non-travel), and what type of test did you undertake?'In response to this question, none of the respondents said only RT-PCR, it said.
While 25 per cent of the respondents said they opted for Rapid Antigen Test, response of 12 per cent was 'both RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Test', it said. However, 63 per cent of residents said they took none of these tests despite having symptoms, LocalCircles said in the statement.
As the positivity rate is increasing at alarming rate in the national capital, the government has directed district magistrates to ensure that Covid-appropriate behaviour is followed, even as experts have said people becoming carefree towards maintaining social distancing norms was behind the recent spike in coronavirus cases. The government has directed DMs of 11 revenue districts to increase drives to issue challans in case people are not following social distancing norms, officials said. "We are keeping a very close watch on the COVID-19 graph of the national capital. Strict directions have been issued to all the concerned departments and officials to ensure adequacy of all the facilities and supplies at the hospitals.
"We're implementing all possible measures to prevent the spread of the infection. At the same time, we also appeal to the citizens to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour in public and keep a check on their health," said a government official. Experts said with the festive season nearing, it is feared that cases might increase as people have become lax. Hospital admissions have also seen a marginal increase but it is among those who have some sort of co-morbidity or are unvaccinated, they said.
