In a hoorific incident, the cab driver of a private school in Palam Village, South-West  Delhi, allegedly sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl.  The accused has been arrested, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Monday as the minor was being dropped home by the accused driver. The accused took the child to a deserted location and allegedly assaulted the victim. He also threatened the minor not to reveal the incident to her parents. The accused later dropped her a few meters away from her residence in Palam, police said.

The victim allegedly informed her parents about the accident after which the accused was caught. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police said.

The incident occurred just few days after the Delhi Government's Directorate of Education (DoE) decided to create a joint WhatsApp group to take immediate action by sharing important information and details in order to address and curb violence against students inside and outside the premises of schools. The group would allegedly include Education Department members, Delhi Police, Head of Schools, Zonal and Deputy Director of Education (DDEs) and the area Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and concerned Station House Officers (SHOs).

Earlier this month, a class II student was raped inside the premises of a New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) School in New Delhi's Gole Market by an electrician working with the school.
