6 DU colleges await VC's nod to offer BMS (Hons)

The Delhi University will be offering the course of Bachelors of Management Studies (BMS) with Honours across six colleges with a total number of 840 seats.

The colleges recommended by the committee formed by the Vice-Chancellor include Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharaja Agrasen College, Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, College of Vocational Studies and Shaheed Sukhdev College for Business Studies. A final decision will be taken by the V-C on Monday.

‘The V-C has set a high power committee to overlook the appropriate colleges for this management course and the respective recommendations were listed on Saturday. They have properly looked into the requirements for the course such as the infrastructure, workload, a dedicated faculty and seats for student intake in these colleges,’ said Umesh Rai the director of the South Campus.

The registration for BMS has already started in the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) but the list of colleges for courses yet to be introduced is awaited. The earlier courses for Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS), Bachelor of Financial Investment and Analysis (BFIA) and Bachelors Business Economics (BBE) have been merged into a single degree of BMS under the four-year undergraduate programmed from this academic session.

The three recommended colleges were already offering BBS course while the BBE was spread across ten other colleges. Among the three Shaheed Sukhdev College, Deen Dayal Upadhyay College and Keshav Mahavidyalaya have been selected and the other three were added later.

An official from DU said the College of Vocational Studies has 200 to 300 available seats for the introduced course. The last date of online registrations for the course is June 10 and the entrance examination is on June 26. From this year, the university has relaxed the eligibility criteria of having additional Mathematics in Class XII for the students of Commerce.
