Six unidentified assailants killed a security guard of a garment export company and held another security guard hostage in Noida’s Sector 57 area on Tuesday morning before decamping with goods worth several lakh and other valuables.
Police have lodged an FIR on a complaint received from the surviving security guard who was beaten brutally by the robbers.
According to police, the incident occurred around 4 am, when the two security guards were on duty. Allegedly at the time of the incident the two were asleep in the guard room at the factory premises.
“Suddenly half a dozen men entered the company and tied up the two guards. “The assailants did not have any arms on them and one of them was allegedly carrying just a wooden stick. They hogtied both the security guards and also used a cloth to cover their faces and gagged them,” said Vishwajeet Shrivastav, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Noida).
“Because of this, one of the guards, identified as Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan (55), suffocated to death by the time he was rescued. The body of the guard has been sent for an autopsy, the report of which is awaited,” said Srivastava.
As per the complaint received by police, the robbers whisked away factory goods, nearly 50 silver coins, besides cash and property documents. “We are conducting a detailed investigation into the case on the statement given by the second guard, Ramashankar Tiwari and are scanning CCTV footage of the area. We are also questioning other guards and employees too. All angles are being studied to solve the case and find the culprits,” said the DSP.
