At least 6,000 residential properties will get the benefit of de-sealing out of approx 10,000 properties sealed by the municipal Corporation of Delhi on the instruction of the Supreme Court authorised monitoring committee, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta announced on Friday.

Welcoming this decision of the Supreme Court, Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta and former Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said that Delhi BJP has been opposing work being done by the Monitoring Committee since the beginning outside its jurisdiction.

Gupta said that the work of the Monitoring Committee was to prevent commercialization of residential areas, to check misuse of Government lands but it did not take any action on the encroachment on government lands. Therefore, Manoj Tiwari ji and all the three municipal Corporations raised this issue prominently.

“The Supreme Court declared the sealing done by the Monitoring Committee outside its jurisdiction unjustifiable after which the path of de-sealing of sealed houses has been cleared,” he said.

Gupta said that 6000 residential properties will get the benefit of de-sealing out of approx 10,000 sealed properties from the decision of the Supreme Court. “The issue will be discussed by sitting with the officials and all three corporations should form a help desk and start working on the process related to de-sealing,” he said.

Former Delhi BJP president Tiwari said that the problem of sealing in Delhi has been there for the last 10-12 years due to the arbitrariness in sealing the public was troubled.

“The decision of the Supreme Court has given relief to those people. We have raised this issue in the Parliament as well. We took the issue to the Supreme Court and finally the Court also said that the sealing done in the residential areas is unjustifiable,” he said.
