A 50-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in East Delhi’s Shakarpur area on Tuesday. Preliminary investigations suggest robbery as the motive behind the murder as the house was ransacked. Two cell phones of the victim were missing from the spot. It appears to be the handiwork of some acquaintance as the entry to the house was friendly. Police have recovered the CCTV footage of the camera installed at the entrance gate of the locality and are now scanning the same.
Police said that the woman has been identified as Meena Devi and she lived with her 14-year-old son Piyush in West Guru Ramdas Nagar.
The incident came to light on Tuesday afternoon when the victim’s son reached home around 3 pm from school and found the main door of the house ajar.
He was shocked to see his mother lying still on the sofa in the living room.
