Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit has constituted a five-member committee to find the reasons behind the defeat of the party candidates in Lok Sabha election.
The five member committee include Parvez Hashmi (former MP), Dr A K Walia, Dr Yoganand Shastri, Pawan Khera (national spokesperson of AICC) and Jaikishan as members. The committee has given responsibility to enquire the reasons behind the defeat of the Congress candidates in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in Delhi.
The committee will also suggest about the strategy need to be adopted by the party to ensure the victory in the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi and how to further strengthen the party organization in Delhi. The committee has been asked to submit its report within ten days.
A senior party leader said that the Congress secured 22.5 per cent votes in Lok Sabha polls and finished second in five of the seven seats in Delhi. The party is trying hard to win back its vote share in the next assembly election as well.
