Three persons were shot and their two accomplices thrashed after half a dozen men attacked them in North Delhi’s Timarpur area on Sunday night. One of the injured is the brother of Samajwadi Party leader from Noida, Rakesh Yadav. The five injured are recuperating in Noida’s Kailash Hospital.

According to police, the incident took place around 9 pm on Sunday. Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had given a contract to a company for removal of sand in the area so that water could reach the water treatment plant (WTP) at Wazirabad. The concessionaire company further gave the contract to a local company which had tied up with a man identified as Pramod. Police officials revealed there was a monetary dispute between Pramod and the local company since he wanted the removed sand to be sold to him but the company wanted it to be sold on the market.

On the day of the incident, Pramod with his six cronies called the other party. Five people from the other party identified as Mahesh, Rahul, Rakesh, Pramod Yadav and Santbir reached Jagatpur village to discuss the matter. The two groups got into an argument which turned ugly and Pramod and his gang members started thrashing Pramod Yadav and his accomplices. They later fired several rounds and three men, including Pramod Yadav, Mahesh and Rahul, sustained bullet injuries. The accused then dumped them in a nearby farm and fled.
