The Delhi Assembly has fared badly this time as far as the educational qualification of MlAs is concerned. Only 53 per cent MlAs are graduates out of the 70 winning candidates of all the parties collectively and the rest 47 per cent of MlAs being just Class XII pass or less.

Debutant Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which swept away 28 seats has at least 10 candidates who are 12th pass and less. The AAP MlA Dharmender Koli, who is charged with a molestation case, is just 8th pass.

Congress, which was reduced to only eight seats in the Assembly Polls, also fell short on academic front with at least five MlAs being 10th and 12th pass only. The three candidates of Congress who completed their graduation are Haroon Yusuf (Ballimaran), Arvinder Singh lovely (Gandhi Nagar) and Asif Mohammad Khan (Okhla).

Out of the 31 seats garnered by Bharatiya Janata Party, which emerged the single largest party in Assembly polls has two members who are Class VIII pass outs while there are 13 who have completed either 10th or 12th. It has three candidates holding doctorates, besides chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan, who is a practicing ENT specialist. It also has seven post graduates. However, there are also some candidates who are highly qualified. BJP has two PhD MlAs — Jagdish Mukhi (Janakpuri) and Mahendra Nagpal (Wazirpur) while one Dlit Honorary Nand Kishore Garg who won the Tri Nagar seat.

The party led by Arvind Kejriwal, who is a former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer and an IIT graduate, has one Ph.D holder Harish Khanna who won the Timarpur seat and three MlAs who are advocates — Saurabh Bhardwaj (Greater Kailash), Somanth Bharti (Malviya Nagar) and Madan lal (Kasturba Nagar).
