In a fierce encounter, Noida Police managed to rescue 45 employees of a garment company by neutralising three criminals on Monday night. The police also arrested five criminals while the three who sustained bullet injuries are now in a hospital. These three criminals had fled the spot but were tailed and arrested by cops from the expressway. All the felons involved in the incident are hardened criminals involved in pillaging factories.
A senior police official said the encounter took place when a gang of 18 members was fleeing after a break-in where more than 40 employees of a private firm were held hostage. The police arrested five of them while the rest got away. Six policemen also suffered minor injuries as more than 100 rounds of bullets were fired during the three-hour encounter.
Police said the lawbreakers stormed the premises of Modi Sifly Embroidery, located in Noida’s Phase II, and rounded up all the employees at gunpoint. They flagellated the victims and fired shots in the air to strike fear. But a police patrolling team heard the gun shots. They apprised control room and the criminals were asked to surrender. The hoodlums managed to give a posse of policemen the slip. Immediately police teams of five police stations encircled them and more than 100 rounds were exchanged between both sides leading to the capture of five thugs identified as Nashir, Imamuddin, Salim, Afzal and Tyagi. The police have also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
