42-year-old ink thrower gets bail in Sisodia case

A city court on Friday granted bail to Brijesh Shukla who was arrested for throwing ink on Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia outside lieutenant-Governor’s office four days ago.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ambika Singh released 42-year-old Brijesh Shukla on bail on furnishing of a personal bond of Rs 15,000.

Regarding the accused’s previous involvement in other cases, advocate Rajesh Kumar, who was representing Shukla, told the court that there were two other criminal matters against his client, of which one has been quashed by the Delhi High Court and the other was a cross-FIR.

Shukla, a resident of Karawal Nagar in Northeast Delhi — arrested on September 19 — was in judicial custody for allegedly throwing ink on Sisodia, saying he was angry with the Deputy CM’s Finland tour at a time when the city was grappling with a health crisis.

He was booked under sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the IPC.

Shukla has been engaged in protests against the AAP Government over various issues and has also filed a complaint in court against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi.
