A 40-year-old man set himself on fire after the phone company refused to replace his handset in Rohini area on Friday.

The man had been identified as Bhim Singh. According to a senior police official, Singh had bought a mobile phone for Rs 16,000 around one month ago. "He was facing some issues, including the phone was not working properly and heating problem. He kept approaching the company regarding the issue, but nothing was happening," said the senior police official.

"When he again went to the M2K mall on Friday and his issue was not resolved, he went to the parking area. He took a bottle from the scooter, filed it with petrol and set himself on fire trying to commit suicide," he said.
