Reiterating their demand to stop implementation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme and the removal of DU Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh, the Delhi University Teacher’s Association (DUTA) has sought intervention of the Union HRD Ministry and the UGC.
The DUTA sought from the Government to respond timely and stop the implementation of the FYUP in ‘public interest’. A large number of teachers across the DU colleges on Sunday gathered at the Ramjas College campus for the special general body meeting of the DUTA on the four-year undergraduate programme.
“The Vice-Chancellor is trying his best to subvert the GBM and scuttle the voice of teachers,” they said.
During the meeting, resolutions of 32 College Staff Associations were read out and common teachers debated on various concerns raised in the Resolutions. “A majority of these resolutions rejected the FYUP. After a two-hour long meeting, the DUTA General Body passed unanimous resolutions against the FYUP and the VC who has allegedly made derogatory comments against the teaching community,” said DUTA president Amar Deo Sharma through a Press release.
“The two resolutions explain that the four year undergraduate course is against National Educational Policy. It will place students at a disadvantage in employment and postgraduate educational opportunities,” the Press statement said.
