Four new police stations will be soon set up in Gurugram city, taking the total number to 40. A decision to this effect has been taken in view of the rapid urbanisation and industrialisation that has taken place in Gurugram. At present, the district has 36 police stations in three zones -- East, West and South.

These new police stations would be set up in Heli Mandi, DlF Phase-3, Sector-65 and a women police station in old Gurugram.

last year, 10 new police stations were opened in the city-New Colony, Shivaji Nagar, Sector-14, Sector-9A, Bajghera, Sector -50, Sector-53, City Sohna, Industrial Model Township, Sector-7, Manesar and Sector-37. Heli Mandi and DlF Phase-3 police chowki's will be converted into the police stations.

Apart from this, in 2017, the state's first cyber police had also been opened in Gurugram. A case related to the cyber offences is being registered in the Cyber police station.

"The city has long required more police stations due to an alarming increase in the number of crimes over the past few years. The police station comes with trained manpower to deal with the new age crimes in the city," Commissioner of Police, Sandeep Khirwar, said.

"We have written to the concerned authority to allot land or buildings for the new police station in the east zone, so a proposal for the new police station in the area can be sent to the government. The locations of the new police stations will also play a role in marking the jurisdiction of each police station and changes in the jurisdiction of the existing police stations in the area," the commissioner said.

Recently, Gurugram Police got 1,000 police personnel after they passed out of police training academy in Karnal. New cops will join city police stations, traffic wing and other police units in the city.

Currently, there are total 4,717 posts sanctioned in Gurugram (from Commissioner of Police to constable) and there were total 2,471 posts vacant including Joint Police Commissioner (1 post) and one Deputy Commissioner of Police (7 posts sanctioned). Now, with the induction of 1,000 new cops, the strength will go up to 5,717.
